Vibes & Chill

Flow is literally the cheat code for arranging songs without copy-paste hell. Write your sections once, then tell OnSong where you want 'em to go. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus again? Boom. Done. No more retypin' the same dang chorus like some kinda chump.

Expressin' Flow (A.K.A. The Fun Part)

First things first: slap some Sections on your song & label 'em. Then just tell OnSong what you want with a flow metatag shorthand like this:

Flow: V1 C V2 C C B C C

Or if you're feelin' chatty, use the full names with commas like this:

Flow: Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, Chorus

OnSong is so clever it figures out the shorthand by grabbin' the first letter of each word. So you don't gotta use weird names or nothin'. If there's a conflict (oops!), it just yeets the first match. Crisis averted.

Pages & Instructions (The Plot Thickens)

Wanna sprinkle in musical directions & page breaks without messin' up your actual song? Flow's got your back. Just throw in stuff that doesn't match a section name. Since some directions have spaces & junk, use the comma-delimited method like this:

Flow: Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, (Repeat 2x), ----, Bridge, Chorus, (Repeat 2x)

Boom. (Repeat 2x) shows up under those choruses. Four hyphens? That's your page break between the choruses & bridge. You're welcome.

Modulatin' Keys (Plot Twist: The Key Changes)

Here's where it gets spicy. Toss transpose, key, or capo tags into your flow & OnSong will spit 'em out before processin' the whole song. Wanna bump up a whole step after the chorus? Do this:

Flow: Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Transpose: 2, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus

Two half steps = one whole step. Math! Or just set the key straight up like this:

Flow: Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Key: A, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus

Srsly, OnSong makin' your life easier one metatag at a time. 🤘
